Short and Sweet

Despite my best intentions my visit to the Gift Fair was limited at best. I was being so conservative that after I placed a few orders I started feeling like temptation was everywhere and I was best served leaving as quickly as possible. I visited everyone on my list and ordered the newest, coolest items. But as far as searching out new items I felt like I would be better off waiting until August and exploring then for the holiday season. For now I'll stick with what I know. I have my work cut out for me as far as building the website in order to actually put the stuff up for sale. That was always in my head as I was shopping- "I don't even have the website up yet!", not to mention all the work left to do today at the store in the form of moving and cleaning. It will all be done today, though, and tomorrow I will sleep late, maybe until 7!

NY Gift Fair

Today I'm finally going to the NY Gift Fair. It will be a really different experience this time. I think I will feel more relaxed than usual since the pressure is off as far as needing certain items like I usually do. I can explore more than I used to and my decisions will definitely be more thoughtful since I won't be ordering for the store, just the website, which won't have nearly as much inventory. I'm just as excited as ever, though. It's always a lot of fun.

Almost All Moved

It was a long day and a lot of hard work. The job of moving is almost done. Here are some cool pictures of the store with the slatwall down, the counter breaking up (sorry Jim), and some of everything moving out.

Moving Day

Today is moving day! Moving merchandise to the storage unit, moving shelving to the studio, moving shelving to the house, moving furniture from the house to the studio...it just goes on like that. Thank goodness I'm feeling better, just weak from not eating, but I'll work on that today. My friends and family totally had my back yesterday and finished packing up the store and taking down the slatwall! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot thank you enough! It reminded me of when I was a junior in college and I had an allergic reaction to bactrum. I had to come home the day before all my roommates graduated and they ended up having to move all my stuff into our new apartment. I felt like I was a total burden. That's how I felt yesterday lying in bed making hourly phone calls to check on their progress. I am just so grateful for all the support I have! I appreciate it more than you all know!
Here are a couple pictures of the studio before the walls were painted. I can't wait to get over there and see it today and meet all the other women who are also busy moving in!

Total Chaos

Yesterday was total craziness! It was busier than any Christmas Eve ever! Here are some pictures. Now I'm dragging myself back to bed because I caught some evil nausea bug and I feel like crap and can't go to the NY Gift Fair today like I planned. Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday and supported the last day and all my friends and family who helped yesterday and everyone who supported Copabananas over the years!

Milestones

I haven't been marking every little milestone in my memory. I've been so caught up with everyday tasks that I'm not focusing on "this is the last Wednesday" or "I'll never restock that again". I think this is good for me mentally. I'm so thankful I'm in school now and can focus on that and I'm moving into the studio next week and that will be an amazing opportunity too. But today is "the last day Copabananas will ever be open". That is a milestone that will not pass unnoticed. Tonight I'll be staying late with friends and family packing up the remaining merchandise. I'm too goal-oriented to be emotional. But I'm pretty sure that more than once today I will stop and reflect on this last day. Cheers!
